There are at least 3 areas that are regarded by some as tantric activity in the UK: -
With Yoga
Sexual Massage
Tantric Massage
I mention these because many male masseurs tick the box TANTRIC MASSAGE in the list of massages they offer. On websites there may be scantily clad ladies also advertising tantric massage. Are both of these really Tantric massage or are they sexual massage? How would clients searching online know the difference? We will look at that in a moment but let me be clear I am not here to criticise anyone. If it is a good service and meets the needs of clients both masseur/masseuse and client will be happy.
There are 3 ways that men have sex: -
In their bodies
In their heads
In role play
Whilst this is of no importance when considering western massages - Swedish, deep tissue or sports massage, it is of importance as we look at what is called Tantric Massage.
A Tantric Massage connects with and massages the energy body which has 7 energy centres, the chakras. It extends outside the skin, so outside the limits of our physical body and with that has spiritual connection. The 7 chakras are: - the root chakra; the sacral chakra; the solar plexus chakra; the heart chakra; the throat chakra, the third eye chakra and the crown chakra. The massages allow the energy to flow, to pleasure, to arouse, to balance, to heal and to love. Because the heart and the sex are such important energy centres all these massages are intimate and involve touching lingham (penis), vajra (vagina), yoni (sacred feminine). Despite this intimacy clients should not assume mutual touching is welcome or allowed.
It can appear at first sight the masseur/masseuse is using similar strokes to those used in western massages but they may well be using them to seek something quite different. Most practitioners will be dressed appropriately in sarong and remain dressed throughout the massage which will start with a Namaste greeting between masseur / masseuse and client.
For clients it may be helpful to know that in tantra 3 things are particularly important: - 1, Breathing ; 2, the body ; 3, voice. Whilst it is not essential to delve into this with a new client at their first tantric massage, for those who want to explore tantric techniques more, some additional advice and instructions may help. This massage is to be experienced in the body so not a time to migrate into the head, as men may frequently do in sex. In addition some simple instruction about 3 different patterns of breathing can really help, especially in either building up the energy towards climax or when wanting to come down for a while. Orgasm can happen if this is the clients wish but it does not have to happen. In fact there is a technique to trap and hold the energy without discharging it.
I am no expert on tantra but what I have experienced through workshops and in tantric massage training has had such a transformative change in me that I would love to see other men taste and see. This is not just about enjoying a massage but experiencing something that can be taken home and into sex and lovemaking. I repeat what I said in the last episode for those who want to learn and experience more widely tantric techniques there are groups that run in Greater Manchester, one a group specifically for gay and bi men ( https://www.meetup.com/gaytantraformen-manchester/?eventOrigin=home_groups_you_are_in) and another which is a mixed group (. https://www.meetup.com/spirituality-sexuality-and-shamanism-north/?eventOrigin=home_groups_you_are_in ). There will be similar groups throughout the UK I expect.
